Quick answer

For a plan billed directly by Spotify, sign in and open the Payment methods page, then add a new method or change the existing one. If another company bills the subscription, manage payment with that provider instead.

Update a Spotify-billed payment method

Use a browser and confirm Spotify, rather than a phone or internet partner, manages the payment.

  1. Sign in and open Spotify's Payment methods page.
  2. Choose Add for a new method or Change for the current one.
  3. Enter the new payment details.
  4. Choose Add/Change payment method to confirm.

When the new method is used

Spotify says the updated method is used from the next billing date. Updating details does not normally create a second subscription.

Check the confirmation and next payment information after saving.

When a partner controls payment

Subscriptions through a phone company, internet provider or other partner must usually be updated with that company.

The Spotify account page identifies the partner or provides a contact link when available.

If the update does not work

Confirm the payment method is issued in the same country as the Spotify account where required, supports recurring online transactions and has sufficient funds.

Try a private browser window or another supported method, then contact the bank or Spotify payment support if the failure continues.

Common questions

Will updating my card charge me immediately?

Spotify says the new method is generally used from the next billing date, though a temporary authorisation may appear.

Can a Family member change the card?

Only the plan manager controls billing for the shared plan.

Why does Spotify send me to another company?

That company manages the subscription, so payment changes must be made with the billing partner.
