Quick answer

Spotify requires Premium Family members to live with the plan manager and provide the same home address when requested. Spotify says it verifies addresses rather than continuously tracking member location.

What members enter when joining

An invited member signs in to their own Spotify account and confirms the plan's full address. The account remains separate from the manager's account.

Spotify says the address must match the manager's household. Do not use another person's address simply to make an invite work.

When Spotify may ask again

Spotify may request verification when someone joins, when the manager changes address, or when Spotify cannot confirm an existing address.

If verification fails, Spotify can send a reverification email with a limited window to respond. Missing or failing that process can remove Premium Family access.

Country and payment method can matter

Spotify's support documentation says the manager can only choose an address in the same country where the payment method was issued.

If you genuinely move countries, update Spotify's country or region and payment details using the official account process rather than trying to work around the address system.

Address verification is not continuous location tracking

Spotify explicitly states that it does not track member location for Family verification; it checks the address supplied for the plan.

That does not remove the household requirement. Members are still expected to live with the plan manager under Spotify's current Family rules.

Common questions

Does Spotify Family track my GPS location?

Spotify's Family verification page says it does not track location and instead checks the address provided.

What happens if verification fails?

Spotify can ask the member to reverify. If verification ultimately fails or the window is missed, the member can lose access to the plan.

Can I use someone else's address?

Spotify's support guidance says not to use someone else's address.
