Signing in is not the same as streaming
A phone, computer, TV and speaker can all remember the same account. Spotify Connect can move or control the active playback between them.
Starting music on a second device can transfer or interrupt the first active stream rather than creating an independent session.
How two people listen at the same time
Two people need separate Spotify accounts for reliable independent simultaneous listening. Duo provides two eligible accounts; Family provides up to six eligible household accounts.
Sharing one login also mixes recommendations, history and privacy, even before playback conflicts are considered.
Offline download device limits
Spotify’s current support documentation separately limits Premium music downloads to up to 10,000 tracks on each of up to five devices.
Adding a sixth download device can cause downloads on the least recently used device to be removed. Streaming sign-in and download-device limits are different concepts.
Phones, cars, speakers and travel
Supported devices can remain linked for convenience, but public or borrowed devices should be signed out after use. Use Sign out everywhere if a device is lost.
For trips, download wanted content before departure and take the device online at least once every 30 days to keep Premium downloads active.
