Quick answer
The Spotify queue shows what will play next. Add a track with Add to queue, open the queue icon to reorder or remove items, and remember that manually queued tracks can take priority over the playlist, album or Autoplay source.
How Spotify decides what plays next
The queue can contain manually added tracks followed by music from the current playlist, album, radio or recommendation source. The exact order is shown in the queue view.
Starting a different playlist or using a Connect device can replace or reshape the current queue.
Add, remove and reorder tracks
Open a track menu to choose Add to queue. In the queue view, select unwanted tracks to remove them or drag items into a new order where supported.
Controls can be more limited on Spotify Free, certain TVs, speakers or consoles.
Queue vs Autoplay
The queue is the immediate playback list. Autoplay is a setting that continues with similar recommendations after the selected content ends.
Turning off Autoplay does not necessarily delete songs you manually placed in the queue.
Why unexpected songs appear
Smart Shuffle, Autoplay, an active Jam, another Connect controller or a previously queued item can all change what plays next.
Check the queue, active playback mode and connected device before treating unexpected playback as an account problem.
Common questions
How do I clear the Spotify queue?
Open the queue view and remove queued items; the available Clear control varies by app and device.
Why does Spotify play songs I did not add?
Smart Shuffle, Autoplay, radio, Jam participants or another controller may be supplying them.
Does the queue sync between devices?
The active playback session can be controlled across Connect devices, but queues can reset when sessions or sources change.
